NATURAL BEAUTY AND DRAMA

Icknield Way, landscape photograph by Alan Culverhouse

THE ICKNIELD WAY, ENGLAND

The Icknield Way is the oldest road in the UK. Whilst not strictly a road, it has been used by people for thousands of years to cross the south of England.

Along the route are ancient hedgerows and the path itself is a well trodden swathe through the land. Over the years various roads and other constructions have been built on or around it, but it is still possible to walk the entire length.
